The window and the mirror. Nieto Sobejano Architects
Museum of Estonian Architecture
Rotermann Salt Storage
Nieto Sobejano Architects is a renowned Spanish office who won last year the competition for the new building of the Arvo Pärt Centre, near Tallinn. Current exhibition gives to the Estonian audience the first insight of the work and creative process of Nieto Sobejano. The new building of Pärt Centre is planned to be opened in Laulasmaa in 2018. For this exhibition, 10 finished works of architecture were chosen and exhibited on large-scale photographs. The pictures express how the buildings relate to their surroundings and fit in with the space, using materials and light. The other element at the exhibition is a table with dioramas – a sort of laboratory for ideas consisting of architecture competition entries, projects that did not end up being built and experiments that mostly will never be built, but from which future work will sprout. The authors themselves say that architecture is always an interpretation of many features that seem unconnected at first glance but which, oddly, start to bear a likeness to one another so that the projects reflect each other like an endless hall of mirrors.

Premiere in Cervantes Institute of Casablanca in May 2012.
Thirst erodes, a piece in three acts, is a physical and poetic reflection based on the classical mythology of Kore (former name of Persephone as a girl, before being abducted by Hades, and Hermes Psychopompos (who takes the souls to the underworld). Persephone plays also a role in the myth of the condemnation of Eros’ and Psyche’s souls to exile. The choreographic concept stems from an intuition: when a body dances all other bodies (from past, present and future) dance with it. All the anatomies keep a memory of the rest of the anatomies; the body contains within itself the physical language of Time.
La Phármaco Dance Company was founded in 2009 by Luz Arcas and Abraham Gragera with a shared belief that dance cannot be limited with genres or styles; the aim of dance is to bring out to the light what lies in darkness. La Pharmaco is often inspired in its works by the classics of world literature, using it to reflect the modern times, defending dance as a social, human mechanism. Form and dynamics are always unexpected, rising from deep inside they convert into expression of soul. Dance reflects all history. It reminds us that the world is not complete, it is still in creation. The works of La Pharmaco have received many awards and gained wide recognition in Spain.

BOOK PRESENTATION: DUBLINESCA BY ENRIQUE VILA-MATAS
With his career as a literary publisher juddered to halt, retired Samuel Riba is determined to curb his alcohol and internet intake. Under the influence of a revelatory and very real dream the ex-publisher sets off for Ireland where he and his three writer friends want to hold a funeral for the era of the printed book. Riba chooses Dublin and 16 June – Bloomsday – for the ceremony in homage to Joyce`s “Ulysses”. As he and his friends gather to give their eulogies to the Gutenberg Galaxy, he is accompanied by constant rain, a mysterious unidentified figure in a Mackintosh and a firm belief that a funeral should always be approached with a touch of parody.
Enrique Vila-Matas (born in Barcelona in 1948) is widely considered one of the most distinguished and original writers in contemporary Spanish fiction. Vila-Matas is the author of numerous award-winning books in which he successfully mixes different genres and strands from other literary works, always resulting in unique and inimitable style. His work has been translated into 30 languages.
Publication of the book in Estonia has received support from the Cultural Endowment of Estonia and the Embassy of Spain in Estonia.

Danza Babaol is about a girl fascinated with poppies and snails. She is called Amapola (Spanish name for poppy flower) and in her surreal world everything has only three colours: red, green and black. Babaol is an intimate show that brings back childhood memories to adults and captivates kids; where dance, theatre and video combine in order to create a fantastic scenic experience that brings together humour, tenderness, mystery and courage.
EnÁmbar is a consolidated and well-known company in the contemporary dance scene of Spain. The group was born in 2007 under the direction of the dancer and choreographer Cristina M. Gómez. Nowadays the company is based in Valencia. Aiming to create, explore and transit scenic processes and pieces, EnÁmbar has a physical foundation focused principally in the discursive possibilities of the body in motion. The group is interested in the relation with the space, the audience and other artistic disciplines, media and ways of communication.
Through its artistic trajectory the company has created several dance pieces that have toured around Spain and abroad; some of these pieces were made for children. He also got private tuition from respected specialists like José Tomás, David Russell, Aniello Desiderio, Manuel Barrueco, Marco Socias, Hopkinson Smith and Jordi Savall. He has worked with many world-renowned musicians and is one of the most sought after guitarists in the jazz panorama of Spain.

Santiago and Eugenio are more than friends, they are life long business partners. They understand each other without words, they care for each other, they need each other. One day Eugenio disappears without leaving any clues behind. Santiago immediately notices his absence, but only realizes what have happened when Eugenio’s wife, Laura, lost and hopeless assures him that Eugenio has left. Santiago and Laura begin a journey in order to find him and end up discovering that they prefer to stay together in this quest rather than finding out where he is. ‘The Mystery of Happiness’ is a film about love, but goes beyond it, it pushes boundaries, it explores the idea of loyalty and estrangement, and it definitely puts dreams over long lost promises.

DOCUMENTARY: MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S TANGO (2013)
Director: Viviane Blumenschein (Germany/Argentina/Finland)
Duration: 52 min.
A Finnish saying goes: “Rather a man with a runny nose than a man with a hollow laugh.” Finns have a quirky sense of humour – and they are also a bit shyer than other people. They only become talkative after the third beer or so, sometimes not even then. Finns weigh their words carefully; when they speak it is for a purpose, which is why they speak as little as possible and avoid small talk. Tango is THE folk music of the Finnish people. In cold, northern Finland, tango has found a new home. Although it may be unexpected of the quiet Finns, they have dance floors everywhere – something that reveals their hidden passion. Tango is as Finnish as sauna and skiing. The famous Finnish Director Aki Kaurismäki sees tango as the only chance for asocial Finns to meet one another, and thus reproduce. He even goes so far as to say that the Finns invented tango. This statement might be charming and proof of a great passion, but it remains to be proven.
The documentary film follows the traces of Finnish tango from the viewpoint of the singer Chino Laborde, the guitarist Diego “Dipi” Kvitko und the bandoneonist Pablo Greco. The three Argentine musicians travel to Finland to find out whether Kaurismäki was telling the truth. It might be a slightly absurd endeavour, but it’s certainly worth it. They encounter great Finnish tango singers and composers such as Reijo Taipale, Markus Allan and M. A. Numminen, who gained fame in their country in the 60s, and the Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki, the creator of films that paint a resilient picture of the melancholic and humorous Finns. The whimsical and comic moments of these encounters are the basis of the charming, humorous and music-laden documentary.

26TH INTERNATIONAL TRUMPET DAYS
Like in the previous years, the 26th International Trumpet Days will follow the tradition that gives its own colour to the festival: a soloists’, ensembles’ and orchestras’ festival with workshops and master classes in Estonia where young musicians have the opportunity not only to work with international well-known masters, but also to live the junction between the eastern and western culture!
As Estonia (because of Maestro Aavo Ots), Spain is probably the greatest trumpet-minded country in the world. We are honoured to have Spanish artists and teachers annually, to connect people and music. As a part of the festival, there is one of a kind competition for trumpeters at age 5-35 in different age groups. The biggest supporter of the festival is the Spanish brass instruments’ company Stomvi that supports the competition with high quality instruments for the Grand Prix winner.
The concerts of exceptional artists are held in the most favourable concert halls and churches. The programme contains classical concerts from Adan Delgado Illada (trumpet soloist of Spanish National Orchestra), world famous Ernesto Chulia’s and last years competition grand prix winner Neeme Ots’ „Trumpet Days Tallinn 2014“ CD premieres.

kadrinoormets & Diego Agulló “formlessly yours”
Their first collaboration after “darks in blues” (premiered at August DanceFestival), “formlessly yours” is a call to witness a journey of secret affinities that will turn into good news if keeping the third eye tuned.
kadrinoormets is an Estonian performing artist and text creator working on theatre. Often radical in her views. Even if releasing a book or making an appearance in gallery, it is to elaborate her statement about theatre – an organised space of concentration, as well as art, music or literature potentially, essentially is.
Diego Agulló studied philosophy in Madrid and since 2005 he is based in Berlin working in the fields of dance and choreography. His current research deals with problematizing the notion of professionalism in arts.
