Come discover Al-Andalus – a unique period in Spanish history when much of the Iberian Peninsula was under Muslim rule (711–1492). Was it a golden age of peaceful coexistence between the three religions – Christianity, Islam, and Judaism? Or does it mark a dark and conflict-filled era in Spain’s past? Or perhaps… something in between?

During this cultural evening, we’ll take a journey through time to explore the political and cultural history of Al-Andalus, its influence on both Europe and the Islamic world, and the lasting legacy it left in Spanish architecture, science, music, language, and cuisine.

Discover an era that shaped the crossroads between the Western and Islamic worlds – and whose influence can still be felt today!

The evening will be hosted by Merilin Tali, development manager at Hispaania Maja. Merilin studied history and has visited Spain numerous times, most of all in Andalusia, where she has also lived.

Participation fee: €7 – includes a glass of good quality Spanish wine, a “Pádel” craft beer, or a non-alcoholic beverage of your choice. The event is held in Estonian.
